What to Know as A New Patient

Patient Registration & Your First Appointment

At the initial visit, information gathering is an important start for our office to learn more about the specific health, needs, goals, and limitations of each unique, individual patient.   Because every patient is uniquely different, patients will meet with Dr. Hollar to discuss any specific dental concerns, review findings from the comprehensive dental exam, and determine the type of dental hygiene appointment best suited to accommodate each patient on an individualized basis.  The hygiene visit may be scheduled ahead of time to follow on the same day as the comprehensive exam, but usually the visit with the hygienist follows on a separate appointment on a different day.

Oral Exam

For most patients at the initial visit, a comprehensive exam will take place.  Many patients actually comment after their exam, "I have never had an exam that thorough before!"  The exam consists of 1) a review of the medical history, 2) a cursory exam to establish if and what images are recommended for a proper diagnosis, 3) both 2-D and 3-D x-ray images and a review of those images with the patient, followed by 4) an extensive assessment of the entire oral cavity including teeth, gums, bite, the cosmetic appearance of your smile and screening for any signs of gum disease or oral cancers as a precaution.

Insurance & Care Credit

At Dr. Wayne Hollar DDS, we take care credit and most insurance plans. One of the most crucial things to know before you go to any doctor is taking your insurance. At Dr. Wayne Hollar Family Dentistry, we take every step necessary to maximize your insurance benefits and ensure you are covered before all and any procedures. Make sure to bring any dental insurance information to the consultation to expedite any reimbursements.
